Volume / Avg Volume - Lets you find stocks that are trading at 2, 3, and even 5+ times more relative volume for this time of the day than they normally do. This number is updated in real time throughout the day and it does let you find the stocks that are more likely to keep moving in the same direction AND it often lets you find them early in the day before most other traders do. It's one of our most powerful and useful features. Up or Down X number of days in a row - This lets you find stocks that have gone up or down a certain number of days in a row. If a stock has gone down 3-5 days in a row and it is above its previous daily high today, it has a good chance of continuing up. Narrowest Day in last X days - Volatility breakout trading systems are very complex yet the principle is simple and now finding these stocks couldn't be easier. Stocks fluctuate from periods of high volatility to periods of low volatility. When a stock is in a low volatility situation, often large moves materialize. Many books have been written about this concept including Street Smarts. You may have heard of NR4 or NR7 trading systems which find stocks where the range yesterday was the lowest in the preceding 4 or 7 days. If a stock breaks above the previous day's high after this "narrow day" it is very likely to continue up not just for that day but often for many more. The same is true if the stock sells below the previous day's low, it is likely to continue down. In backtesting this concept, your odds are higher if the stock opens inside of the previous days range and then TRADES through the high or low. Inside Day - Our filter lets you find "Inside Days" which are when the previous day's high is lower than the day before and the low is higher than the day before. This often signals indecision and trend changes and explosive moves often happen as the stock breaks out up or down. Go to our User Manual for More Details on our HotList Filter.
